Kids' Fishing Derby

Join us for this traditional day at Beekman Rec!  Kids ages 0-15 are invited to be registered.

Fishing begins promptly at 8am and continues to 10:30am at which time ribbons are given to winners in each age category.

This event is free to residents
Non-residents' fee is $5 if purchased online in advance, and $10 the day of the event

BRING YOUR OWN POLE and BUCKET
Limited worms will be available

Schedule
  • 7:30am: Registration
  • 8:00am: Fishing begins
  • 10:15am: Fishing ends
  • 10:30am: Award Ceremony

Fishing Derby Rules
  • All visitors must stay behind the starting line until 8am
  • Only children age 15 and under can be fishing during the event
  • Adults are not permitted in the pond area unless they are with their child
  • Parents may HELP younger children if they need it
  • If a child leaves the pond area, the child’s adult helpers must also step away from the pond
  • Children must be accompanied by an adult partner if they go to the playground, the pavilion, the bathroom, etc.
  • Absolutely no standing in any area that says KEEP OFF or Do Not ENTER this includes the dam and the area around it
  • Stay away from safety cones
  • At 11 am when the fishing derby is over, adults with a current fishing license will be permitted fish

Residency
*To be eligible for Town of Beekman resident discounts for programs, proof of residency is checked annually for all participants, including those who have previously been enrolled. We will check the tax rolls but depending on the outcome, you may be asked to provide:
1. Bills to your address, AND
2. Proof of identity in the form of a Government Issued Photo ID
